I think my stylist really understands me (or I'm trying to find one who does).

I give it special treatment, like buying expensive products and going to a fancy salon.

Would you ever give someone a gift card?

Only as a last minute back-up gift, if I didn't have time to find something better.
Only if I knew he/she really wanted one.
Sure. If I get one for a store I don't like, I'll pass it along to someone else.

How do you feel about putting a cheap thing in a box from a fancy store?

A box is just a box. It's not like I?m promising the gift came from there.
I'd try to avoid it, because the person might realize the truth and feel let down.
I'd probably do it. And if the person thinks I spent a lot on their gift, that's cool.
I might put a toy ring in a jewelry store box, but only to be funny.
That's mean and misleading.
I'd probably decorate the box to cover up the store's logo, so it wouldn't be a problem.

Do you think it's okay to give old or used stuff as a present?

Yes, if it's something strange. I like surprising people.
Depends. If it's vintage, maybe. If it's just old, that's inconsiderate.
I think it's okay, if you personalize it somehow or explain why you chose it.
As long as the recipient can't tell it was used, who cares?
If you used it already, that's no good. If you unwrapped it, but didn't use it, that's fine.
I don't care if something's old or not. When I find the perfect gift, I just know.

Would you ever give someone a pen as a gift?

Maybe, if the person collects cool pens, and I found a neat one.
Sure, if I got one from someone else and didn't want it.
I might give someone a nice drawing pen and a sketchbook.
Maybe, if it's silver or something, and seems really special.
That sounds kinda cheap, even for me. But, hey, why not?
Yes, if it's the kind where the person gets naked when you hold it upside down.

How do you feel about giving edible gifts?

Peanut butter? Bad gift. Gourmet chocolate? Good gift.
If the person doesn't like it, they can always share it with someone else.
Homemade cookies are the yummiest thing on earth.
Food is boring? except when it's shaped like something sexy.
Food's okay as a gift, especially if I buy that food on sale.
I only buy food as a gift if I know the person's favorite flavors.
