Would you do almost anything to win the biggest trophy, earn the highest grade, or go to prom with the hottest date? Or are you more comfortable cheering from the sidelines as other people compete? You don't have to worry about getting an "A" on this quiz -- just answer the questions, and we'll evaluate your competitive nature.

If an acquaintance asks how you scored on a test (whether it's the SAT or the written exam for a driver's license), do you tell him/her?

It depends on my grade. If I know I scored higher than he/she did, I usually can't resist.
I guess so, but I think that's kind of nosy.
Sure. He/she is probably just making conversation.

You and a few friends have been running together for a while, and you've all decided to sign up for a 5k. On race day, one of the gang is slower than usual. What do you do?

I say, "See you at the finish line," and run ahead. There's no point in letting a slowpoke hold me back.
I run with my slow friend, but when I talk to other people later, I might blame him/her for my slow-ish time.
I stick by my slow friend and let the others speed up if they want. I'm not trying to impress anyone.

You find out that you and your best friend both like the same person. You:

immediately back off. I hate the idea of fighting for someone's attention.
spend a little less time with my friend until the situation works itself out.
ask that person out right away. This was just the push I needed.

Why do you think some people like working out with a buddy?

It forces you to push your body to the limit, instead of stopping as soon as your muscles get tired.
Because you're more likely to show up for a workout if you know the other person is there waiting.
Because everything's more fun with a friend around.

You and a coworker are after the same promotion. What will you do to make sure you get it?

I guess it's out of my hands, but I hope our boss notices how hard I've been working.
I'd be really tempted to point out that my coworker comes in late a lot (even if it's a lie).
I'll talk to the boss and emphasize that my schedule's really flexible, because I know my coworker takes yoga classes a few nights a week.

Tell the truth. Have you ever cheated at a board game when someone wasn't looking?

Yes, but only when I was a little kid. I wouldn't do that now.
Yes. It's just a board game, not a final exam or something. What they don't know won't hurt them.
No! What would be the point of cheating at a board game? Who CARES?

You're playing a video game with a friend, and the score is really close — but you're winning. You pause the game to answer the phone, but when you get back, your friend has un-paused it and proceeded to trounce you. What's your reaction?

I hate that kind of thing. I'd probably turn off the console and ask my friend to leave.
Oh man. I'd be peeved. But I'd demand a rematch so I can kick his/her butt in the next game.
I'd laugh. We pull that kind of stuff on each other all the time. It's just a game.

One of your friends set up a ping pong table at your neighborhood block party. As you're playing, a dispute arises as to whether the ball brushed the net when your friend hit it. Which of these would be most likely to happen next?

We'd have to call in a neutral referee to make the call.
We'd probably sort of "pretend argue" about it for a while, then go find the cheesecake.
I'd probably let my friend have the point.
To tell you the truth, I'm not crazy about ping pong... I'd probably try to use it as a way to get out of playing, somehow.

After a really hard test, your teacher praises you in front of the whole class for getting the only perfect score. How do you feel?

I am so psyched I got 100! Instant good mood.
I am really glad I did so well, and really glad the whole class knows, too.
I'm a little embarrassed at being singled out like that.

Which kind of video game do you prefer:

Complex single-player games that last a long time. I like to challenge myself.
Multi-player games. I like to play against my friends and siblings and parents and whoever will play with me.
Um. Solitaire?
